Starting from home in Les Avants, a short train ride of two stops, five minutes, through the tunnel of Jaman take me to the Le Cases station, a tiny station in the middle of the woods in the canton of Fribourg. After a mere five minute walk, from the station to the restaurant Seythours, one takes a sharp right and enters narrower part of the Hongrin Valley.
For the next 6km I followed the Hongrin river which leads up to the Lac de l’Hongrin. The valley is wildly romantic, quiet and secluded. Even now, as summer vacation time is at its peak, the valley retains its fairy tale mood. Tourists just dont find their way here.
Towards the end of the valley, just a few hundred meters before the lake, one takes a sharp left and starts the ascend to the Panachaux peak. After gaining 600m in height one begins to clear the tree line and views over the Lac Hongrin, and the better part of the entire Parc naturel régional Gruyère Pays-d’Enhaut.
I should add, Microsoft threw me a curve ball, and my computer for photo editing is down for a month. So these images are, while reduced, pretty much unedited. Enough said, here are a few images from a wonderful day outdoors.

The Hongrin valley

This cow was curious to meet my dog, it followed us all the time trying to get to him.

Gaining a little altitude towards Lac de l’Hongrin

The view opens up as I gained altitude on the way up to the Panachaux

The view keeps opening, here the back side of the Rochers de Naye
