From April to October old town Rhodes is packed with tourists and the industry catering them. In the core winter months you can still have the old town to yourself. All the stores, stalls and restaurants are shut down, the entire tourism industry lies dormant. I had one morning to take a few snapshots of the abandoned old town. Rhodes served as a strategic bridgehead to the orient. This made the island greatly interesting to all empires bordering Europe and the orient. Even remarkable given the location is the fact that the old down survived millennia without any major destruction.
