Over the past few days, a massive weather system swept across Western Europe. It stretched from Corsica, just south of the French Riviera, all the way to Denmark. Today, it finally began to weaken. Changes like this often bring the promise of dramatic mountain scenery, and I decided to seize the moment by driving up to the Col du Grand St-Bernard—one of my favorite routes in the region.
For part of the journey, my hopes were rewarded, and I managed to capture some beautiful moments. One day, I plan to spend a few nights at the Hospice St-Bernard. In operation for over a thousand years, it’s not only steeped in history but also serves as a perfect base for excursions.
I am learning to limit my expectation. One good image a day is plenty. My favorite is the dramatic landscape below. The light and colors were as varied as shown here.
