When straying from the touristic hot spots Morocco offers very different scenes, moods and subjects which are a clear reminder of the country`s status as a developing nation. Progress has been stable but not without challenges. Population growth has come to a virtual stand still as urbanization grew to 65% of total population. Droughts continue to pose challenges to the still material agriculture sector and the consequences of the 2023 earthquake are still omnipresent. Efforts to rebuild and repair are under way, but it will take a decade for sure. For all these reasons it was not surprising that life away from the touristic high lights has plenty of grit and texture which I believe are best conveyed using black and white photography.
