Four legs good, two legs bad

It was to supposed to be a one hour walk, but turned into a fruitful four hour excursion. Lumber work cut me of in the middle of my trail, but on a day like this I could not possibly return. Fog, clouds and the occasional sunlight breaking through was just too rich in mood and light.

So with my path blocked I chose the direct approach crawling, slipping and grappling up a a long steep, 50%+, incline on wet, snowy and muddy ground. I am sure my dog had a good time smiling at my struggle, quietly reciting to himself Orwell`s “Four legs good, two legs bad “.

Eventually I did reach higher ground and found an opening in the forest covered in last night`s fresh snow. Up there the fog moves in and out which means with some patience one can catch repeated views of our valley.

Continuing from here a path took me back into the forest just to disappear into nothing. Once more time to take the direct route up the hill until I hit the Rte de Jaman. The legs will tell the tale of the climb for a few days to come. On the way back a few more, less spectacular moments presented themselves. In the end dog and I were happy to be back.

Two black and whites to round out the trip:
